FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to the most common questions about attic insulation.
How often should I replace attic insulation?
Usually 15-20 years, but honestly it depends. Got rats? Water damage? You'll need to replace it sooner. If your energy bills are creeping up and the house feels drafty, it's probably time. We can take a look for free.
How much does rodent removal and cleanup cost?
Most jobs run $2,000-$6,000 depending on how bad it is. That covers trapping, cleaning up the mess, and replacing contaminated insulation. We'll give you an exact number after we see what you're dealing with.
How does attic ventilation help with energy bills?
Your attic can hit 150 degrees in a Glendale summer. Without proper vents, all that heat pushes down into your home and your AC works overtime. Good ventilation lets that hot air escape, which can help reduce cooling costs.
Is attic mold dangerous?
It can be. Mold spores get into your air and cause breathing problems, especially for kids and anyone with allergies. We use HEPA equipment to remove it safely, then figure out what caused the moisture so it doesn't come back.
Do attic fans actually work?
Yeah, they do. A good attic fan can significantly reduce attic temperatures. Less heat in the attic means less heat in your house. Many homeowners notice lower summer cooling bills.
What's the difference between spray foam and blown-in insulation?
Spray foam costs more but seals air gaps and has a higher R-value. Blown-in is cheaper and works great for most attics. We'll tell you which makes sense for your situation - sometimes it's a combo of both.
What is air sealing and do I need it?
Air sealing plugs the gaps around pipes, wires, and vents where your heated or cooled air escapes. Most older homes leak like crazy up there. It's usually worth doing - can noticeably reduce energy bills.
Should I get my attic inspected regularly?
Peek up there yourself once or twice a year. Look for rat droppings, water stains, or insulation that looks flat or disturbed. If something seems off, give us a call. Better to catch problems early.
What areas do you cover?
Glendale's our home base, but we work all over - Burbank, Pasadena, La Crescenta, Eagle Rock, Arcadia, Montrose, La Canada. Pretty much anywhere in the 818 or 626 area codes.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yep. CA License #1110148. Fully insured. We've been doing this since 2009 - we're not going anywhere.
